Two early pivotal experiences shaped my interests: the "magic" of coding my first programs on a Commodore 64, and learning how to use Usenet, IRC, and Telnet to find and join communities.
For me, technology has always been a gateway to community, a synapse that sparks kinship. I view some tech as a portal that can transport us to otherwise inaccessible experiences; As examples, The WELL and LambdaMOO, to Second Life and emergent media literacy groups like NEW MODELS.
My professional passion is empowering individuals and organizations through tech by providing bespoke solutions and support frameworks. I am a project consultant and digital rights activist. I help to grow communities and organizations through human-centered processes and inclusive people ops.
My recent roles encompass aspects of the leadership of technical professionals, coaching and developing them along their journeys. You can find an overview of my professional services on this site.
I am always up for discussing tech and brainstorming potential solutions. Please feel free to visit my LinkedIn profile or to send me a message regarding working with you or your group.
My resonance with tech also shows up in my creative photography. For years, I have been taking photos and I enjoy sharing unique perspectives with others. I have constantly been drawn to and been inspired by visual art of many genres. In the past, I've painted and sketched with various mediums, but always found that I am most comfortable creating interesting photographs.
My favorite visual art forms are visionary and abstract painting, street photography and installation art exhibits.
